Do You Dare to Go In This Haunted Tunnel in Virginia?
There is something about tunnels in general that is just inherently scary. But when this tunnel has a haunted and frightening history, it takes fear to a whole new and extreme level.
Now, the state of Virginia has a long history and as a result has its fair share of haunted locations, buildings and yes, even tunnels. But one that is likely scarier than them all is the Poor House Road tunnel in Lexington. Over the years, this location has been a paranormal hotspot.
The tunnel was originally built in the early 1900s as a part of the railway system that went between Staunton and Lexington and soon enough, the tunnel was no longer used as the invention of cars made them pretty much useless.
But even though it was no longer in use, it didn’t take the tunnel very long at all to gain a reputation in the paranormal community. It was the site of several lynchings and there were also reports of little girls being murdered near it as well as well as a boatload of other rumored murders.
Since then, people have claimed to see and hear things in and around the tunnel, leading people to believe it is a haunted location. These things can happen during the day AND night, meaning no time is safe from the paranormal spirits that may reside here.
Whether it is really haunted or not, there is no doubting that the area has had a very tragic history and if anywhere in the world is haunted, it may just be this place. And whether spirits are here or not, I still wouldn’t want to travel through the tunnel at night.
