Over 50 Incredible Classic Cars Were Found In An Old Barn
If you’ve ever watched Antique Roadshow, Storage Wars, or American Pickers, you’ve no doubt imagined what it would be like to discover some piece of trash that turns out to be worth a fortune.
Maybe you’ve even gone so far as to root through your attic or garage in an effort to find some hidden treasure. Sometimes treasure-hunters just happen to stumble upon a rare find with what seems like little effort, and in other cases, it requires extensive searching.
The employees of Repocast, a Michigan company, know all about the feeling of discovering treasure. The auction company recently happened upon one of the rarest finds of their lives when they were asked by a family to come check out the contents of an old barn on their farm.
Repocast is a family-owned business in Wayland, MI, and they’ve found their share of strange items over the years. Auctions houses and repo firms are commonly tasked with finding old properties that have been left behind by their owners or foreclosed on. They usually have no idea what awaits them within the properties, and that was definitely the case with this old barn.
Check out the pictures below and find out the amazing treasures that barn had in it for years!
The family who asked Repocast to come to their old barn has chosen to remain anonymous, and all they mentioned in their initial request was that they had a huge collection of vintage cars to sell. The appraisers were met by the family off-site and then brought to the old barn on their property. What was waiting inside? Over 50 incredible vintage cars.
Many of these cars were Ford Thunderbirds, which are very rare and sought after in the automobile collecting field. Most of the Thunderbirds found in the barn were built in the 1950’s and 1970’s which was an incredible era for car collectibles.
Besides all the rare Thunderbirds, there was also an assortment of vintage Ford vehicles. The appraisal crew even found a Model B from 1932, a car that was only available for a very short span of two years in the 30’s. If you’re wondering if they found anything besides Ford, they did! The rare deviance from Ford was a 1947 Pontiac convertible.
For those familiar with the classic car industry, it’s well-known that classic cars can be worth as much as millions and as little as a few thousand. Multiple that by over 50 cars and that’s quite a sum!
These cars will likely be sold to collectors, and the biggest determinants of price will be the condition of the car and the buyer. Many of these cars haven’t been driven in over 30 years.
Despite being neglected for years, these cars are mostly in near-mint condition. Part of the reason is because they were stored indoors in the barn, and also because they weren’t driven for years so there was no wear and tear on the parts.
Repocast put this collection of cars on auction on August 10 and every car sold promptly for amounts ranging from hundreds to the more damaged pieces to nearly thirty thousand for the rarest pieces.
Keep hunting for treasure, the rewards can be sweet!
