The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense. It’s a formidable building that is located in Arlington County, Virginia. Location-wise, this giant government building is only about 15 minutes from the heart of Washington, D.C. where the White House and other government buildings are located that make up the capital of our great nation. The Pentagon itself is a solid five sided behemoth, with 17.5 miles of corridors and a square footage of 6.6 million. It’s estimated that 23,000 military and civilian employees work there on a regular basis. As the largest office building in the world, the sheer volume of the structure is enormous in every way.
You can see why on that fateful day on September of 2001, 9/11, so many people’s lives were in danger when Flight 77 flew into the western side of the Pentagon. The world, to many Americans, was never the same again.
Recently, the FBI released some new photos about the aftermath of 9/11. Seeing the devastation that people went through at the Pentagon is quite mind-blowing. Here are some rare, never before seen photos of the Pentagon after 9/11 to go over all the important details of that grave day in history that no one will ever forget.
